iciHaiti - NOTICE : The Carnival of Jacmel registered in the National Heritage register

Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Culture informs the Haitian Nation as a whole and the international community, that the "National Carnival of Jacmel" has been officially registered since January 18, 2021, in the national register of Haitian national cultural heritage.

In accordance with article 215 of the Constitution and in application of articles 1 and 2 of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which entered into force on December 17, 2009, after its ratification by the Haitian Parliament on the one hand, and in accordance with the letter and the spirit of the decree of October 12, 2005 establishing the "Haitian Bureau of Copyright (BHDA)" on the other hand, the "National Carnival of Jacmel" is now protected by Haitian laws.

Consequently, any commercial operation of the National Carnival of Jacmel is subject to the legal provisions governing the matter.
