As part of the International Day of the Rights of the Child (20 November), France has had a special thought for the 2 million Haitian children deprived of their fundamental right to education who can no longer go to school since early September, as violence spreads across the country and threatens their lives.

France recalls that since 2013, it has mobilized in Haiti more than one million dollars to ensure the implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child which aims to guarantee children fundamental rights such as the right to family, education, health, nutrition, identity and recreation. It reaffirms its commitment to the rights of children and continues in Haiti its actions in child protection through its support to the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR).

Note that the actions of France are concentrated around the issue of family separation. They recall that the separation of a child from his family should be a measure of last resort while in Haiti, the economic factor pushes the majority families to make this decision.
