iciHaiti - PNH : important meeting around the «Basket Fund» program
Friday, October 28, 2022, Frantz Elbé, Director General a.i. of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) organized an important workshop attended by Representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP - Haiti), of the Office Integrated United Nations in Haiti (BINUH), members of the High Command and Heads of various services of the PNH.

This workshop provided an opportunity to discuss the "Basket Fund" program, the common fund financed by the international community whose management is provided by the UNDP, which aims to support projects that meet the priorities and immediate needs of the PNH.

Indeed, as part of the implementation of this program, rehabilitation and construction of police infrastructure is planned. The Police Station of Miragoâne as well as the Departmental Direction of Nippes are among the buildings to be built in order to create a safe, healthy and pleasant environment for law enforcement officers who must provide better service to the public.

During the exchanges between Nick René Hartmann, the UNDP Representative in Haiti and senior PNH officials, the needs revolving around the priority areas for the PNH were discussed such as background checks of police officers, rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure, training and reinforcement in the field of information and technology.

Let's remember that this common fund is in the process of being set up by countries that have already made their contributions, such as Canada ($10 million), the United States ($3 million), Japan and other countries that are on the point of joining this fund to better help the PNH to face new security challenges.
