iciHaiti - Insecurity : Gangs recruit minors
The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) condemns the violence of armed gangs since April 24 which affects the communes of the North and North-East of Port-au-Prince, killing and injuring several dozen innocent citizens and displacing hundreds more.

BINUH is particularly concerned about the recruitment of minors into gangs, one of the six grave violations of the rights of the child.

The UN organization encourages the implementation of the national strategy to reduce community violence and calls on the authorities to prosecute the alleged perpetrators while continuing efforts in the fight against armed gangs and the protection of human rights.
