iciHaiti - Health : The OPC deeply concerned about the strike in the country's hospitals
The Citizen Protection Office (OPC) expresses its deepest concern following the persistence of the strike launched at the level of public hospitals and dispensaries.

Let's recall that the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) better known as the General Hospital on unlimited strike since February 21, was followed among others by the Justinien University Hospital and other dispensaries public and hospitals threaten to follow the movement, including the hospital of Peace in Delmas 33.

Interns and residents, staff at all levels and even certain doctors on duty protest against inhuman working conditions and insufficient salaries in the face of inflation and the high cost of living. Added to this is a climate of insecurity and several kidnappings of health personnel and professionals.

The OPC emphasizes "[...] this call for a strike has harmful consequences on the population, the sick, particularly those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS who constitute a very vulnerable category requiring care medicine on a daily basis.

Consequently, the OPC launches an urgent appeal to the relevant authorities of the Ministry of Public Health to find, as soon as possible, a solution with the striking unions for the resumption of activities at the level of the country's hospitals."
