Saturday March 17, 2022, Pierre Poitevien (58), Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Public University of Artibonite in Gonaïves (UPAG) died.

Hospitalized for a week, after contracting Covid-19 Pierre Poitevien, Diabetic and hypertensive, while recovering and expecting to be discharged from hospital, died suddenly of cardiac arrest at Mirebalais hospital where he was cared for.

His death is a huge loss for the Haitian academic community in general and the intellectual elite of Gonaïves in particular.

UPAG students mourn this much-appreciated professor, assuring that he will always live through his works.
