iciHaiti - 218th independence : Message from Ambassador Bocchit Edmond
Message from the Ambassador of Haiti to Washington Bocchit Edmond, on the occasion of the Haitian National Day (218th anniversary of Independence January 1) and the Day of the ancestors (January 2)

Message from Ambassador Edmond:

"On January 1st, the Republic of Haiti celebrates its political independence, the crowning of its fight against slavery, exclusion and in favor of freedom, equality and fraternity.

January 2nd is consecrated by posterity as recognition of the human values that animate the Haitian dream, this unique gift that the founding mothers and fathers bequeathed to us from 1791 to 1804. Let us make this 218th commemoration of the feats of our national heroes the muse, the inspiration to begin, without further delay, the beginning of our lasting national awakening.

More than ever, Haiti, to emerge from the nightmare, must draw on its epic to transcend divisions of all kinds.

In 2022, let's agree to this civic and patriotic agreement!
Let us honor our Heroes by this historical overtaking which will consecrate the awakening of the Republic of Haiti from its torpor. It is our sacred duty!

Long live freedom !
Long live the Haitian Union!
Long live Haiti and its Heroes of yesterday, and those who will emerge today to rebuild the Nation!"

Bocchit Edmond, Ambassador.
