María Noel Vaeza, Director of UN Women for the Americas and the Caribbean, is expected this Sunday in Haiti for a Mission that will end on September 17 to analyze the situation of women in the country.

During her stay, Ms. Vaeza will meet with women's organizations to better understand their specific and most urgent needs and identify the most effective ways in which the international community should support women and contribute to the post-earthquake recovery of the country.

Vaeza's agenda also includes meetings with representatives of the Government of Haiti, as well as with civil society organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, donors and other UN agencies working in the humanitarian response to the earthquake.

As part of her mission, Monday, September 13, the Director of UN Women will support government authorities and partners in the presentation of the results of a post-disaster gender analysis, carried out jointly by UN Women and CARE International, in collaboration with the Government of Haiti and with the support of various United Nations agencies.
