iciHaiti - Tribute : UNESCO creates the «Frankétienne Literary Prize»

Less than a month after the passing of the eminent Haitian writer Frankétienne https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44327-haiti-obituary-death-of-franketienne-rain-of-messages.html , UNESCO has created the "Frankétienne Literary Prize."
With this gesture, UNESCO has chosen to honor and perpetuate the memory of a Mapou figure of Haitian literature.
He was haunted throughout his life by creative passion in diverse and varied forms : literature, painting, theater, music...
He whose work reflects his visceral attachment to his country and its culture.
He who, through plays such as Dezafi, Pèlen Tèt, and others, enhanced the brilliance and scope of our Creole language.
Through this initiative, UNESCO confirms the vitality of Haitian literature and the undeniable place of Haitian writers in the great concert of world literature.
According to Lilas Desquiron, Permanent Representative of Haiti to UNESCO, "this Prize aims to celebrate and encourage literary creation, while perpetuating the legacy of Frankétienne, an author, playwright, and poet who is a key figure in Haitian culture."
