iciHaiti - Tourism : Important bilateral meeting on the development of border ecotourism
On Saturday April 17, nearly a hundred representatives of civil society organizations, Haitian and Dominican officials, as well as delegations from international organizations, went to Pedernales, a fontalière town in the southwest of the Dominican Republic within the framework of a vast follow-up and coordination meeting of the 8th Binational Fair of Ecotourism and Production at the initiative of the "Fundación Ciencia y Arte" (FCA) which will take place from December 2 to 12, 2021 .

Participants pleaded for the promotion and development of an inclusive tourism and ecotourism model that respects nature and contributes to the well-being of populations on both sides of the border. They agreed on the need to promote environmentally responsible tourism and border natural resources, which integrates its inhabitants and tourism stakeholders, not only to develop the tourism industry but also to support the development of ecotourism., the FCA said in a statement.

The meeting was chaired by Jacqueline Boin, FCA President who said the meeting also aimed to broaden the dialogue between the two border communities (Anse-à-Pitres and Pedernales) and broaden the levels of cooperation and solidarity between the two. Nations that share the same island.

Note that this 8th Fair is co-organized with the Interministerial Committee for the Support of the Binational Fair, the Foundation for the Development of Alternative Tourism in Haiti, the Local Coordination Committee of Anse-a-Pitres and the Government of Pedernales and local mayors on both sides of the border.
