iciHaiti - Politic : All the details of Prime Minister Jouthe's tour in the South
As part of a two-day tour in the South department, the Prime Minister, Joseph Jouthe accompanied by Ministers Patrix Sévère (Agriculture) and Ms. Myriam Jean (Tourism), began the tour with the inauguration of the pumping station de Vernet, a locality in Les Cayes, thanks to funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-33170-icihaiti-les-cayes-inauguration-of-a-solar-hydraulic-pumping-system.html

This hybrid energy pumping station is equipped with 240 solar panels and two generators of 400 and 450 Kw. It meets the urgent needs of the most vulnerable populations in the region, i.e. around 37,000 people.

The Head of Government also visited three other drinking water supply systems.

In Roche-à-Bateau, the construction of 8 new kiosks and 4 standpipes (drinking fountains) is in the process of being completed. This 250 m3 structure includes the laying of 18.946 linear meters (ml) of pipes and the installation of 701 connections.

Port-à-Piment will benefit from the construction of two reservoirs of 250 m3 and 150 m3 and the construction of 14 kiosks (on the left and right banks). This major work includes the laying of 13.835 ml of pipes and 637 connections.

The population of Les Anglais will be supplied with drinking water thanks to the construction of two reservoirs of 150 m3 and 60 m3 and 14 kiosks (on the left and right bank). The works include the laying of 22.334 ml of pipes and 963 connections.

Thanks to these large-scale infrastructures, the South department will experience a considerable increase in drinking water.

It was also an opportunity for Prime Minister Jouthe to visit the Les Anglais the irrigation system rehabilitation site implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture. This work involves the construction of a 36 m3 collection box and the laying of 390 ml of pipes as well as the construction of 550 ml of gabion to protect the river. This work will contribute to the irrigation of 450 hectares of land in the commune.
