iciHaiti - Cooperation : DR will not pay for new hospitals in Haiti 14/01/2021 09:47:57
On Wednesday January 13, Dominican President Luis Abinader made it clear that his country will not invest funds in the construction of hospitals in Haiti, as the bilateral agreement signed during a meeting on Sunday January 20 between the Dominican President and his Haitian counterpart Jovenel Moise might suggest, the content of which was made public on Tuesday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32758-haiti-flash-9-joint-commitments-between-haiti-and-the-dominican-republic.html
"What the Dominican Republic is going to do, and it is important to clarify this, is to be a channel and a facilitator of aid" said Abinader on the sidelines of the presentation of a construction plan for 60,000 homes.
The President assured that the meetings will begin next week with the Ambassadors of the countries most involved with Haiti, among which he cited Canada, the United States, France and Germany, to discuss the funding of two hospitals.
