iciHaiti - Health : 2nd week of strike at the maternity hospital Isaïe Jeanty
For almost two weeks, the activities of the Chancerelles hospital (Isaïe Jeanty maternity hospital) have been severely disrupted by a work stoppage by medical residents who denounce their poor working conditions.

In a note, the National Committee of Physicians in Hospital Residence writes "[...] Given the poor working conditions, the climate of insecurity, the lack of infrastructure, the insalubrity, the problem of energy, running water, non-availability of the surgeries room, frequent shortage of oxygen, inputs and implants in our various training centers and especially the non-payment of two months of allowance during the 2018-2019 financial year and 12 months allowance for some residents 1 and 6 months for others... the situation requires the resident of the Isaïe Jeanty maternity hospital to stop working [...]"

Remember that this establishment, which is the only one reserved for women, gives birth every day in a normal situation, on average about thirty newborns.

If the State does not respond positively to the demands, the National Committee of Doctors in Hospital Residence of the Different Public University Hospitals of Haiti (CNRHPH) threatens to extend the strike to all public hospitals in the country.
