iciHaiti - Culture : Several elements of intangible heritage protected by law
Jean Michel Lapin, the Minister of Culture informs the general public and the concerned in particular that : "Rara and its various territorial manifestations", the "Music and Compas Dance", the "Contredanse", the "Knowledge and the Know-how related to the technique of the layout of the Vèvè", the "Techniques of production of Masks Paper Mache of Jacmel", the traditional preparation of "Dous Makòs Petit-Goâve "," Konparèt de Jérémie ", the "Tchaka" and the techniques of the traditional preparation of the "Lalo" of Artibonite are officially registered in the National Register of Haitian Cultural Heritage, administered by the Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry.

Minister Lapin states that in accordance with Article 215 of the Constitution and in application of Articles 1 and 2 of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage ratified by the Parliament on 19 February 2019 and secondly paragraph 2 of the Article 4 of the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Decree of 2005 that all these elements of the intangible cultural heritage are now protected by law and that therefore any commercial exploitation is subject to the aforementioned legal provisions.
