iciHaiti - SECURITY : Shot in Karibe Hotel, 1 death

Thursday at the Karibe Convention Center, at a party celebrating the birthday of Arly Larivière the Founder of Groupe Nu Look, a security officer known as Mathurin was shot dead by an unidentified individual until now in unsolved circumstances.

According to the testimonies the party was coming to an end when two gunshots were heard. According to other witnesses, a fight broke out between a participant and the Deputy of the second constituency of Port-au-Prince, Jean Rene Lochard, implicating his security agent.

For his part, the deputy Lochard explained on a radio that someone who participated in the evening had verbally abused him and threw in the face the drink he was consuming. He points out that this individual tried to hit him, but that friends intervened and restored calm, evoking no shot in this altercation.

"This is the first time such an incident has come to the Karibe Convention Center," said Patrick Staco, head of the hotel's culture and leisure activities.
