iciHaiti - Justice : «Haiti from the slave trade to modern slavery» 24/08/2018 10:05:39
Thursday at Quisqueya University, as part of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition (23 August), the National Committee against Human Trafficking (CNLTP) jointly with the Office of Citizen Protection ( OPC) organized a conference-debate on the theme "Haiti from the slave trade to modern slavery: what memory and what efforts today ?" Several representatives of civil society organizations participated in this activity focused on the problem of human trafficking in Haiti.
The Public Protector Me Renan Hedouville believes that despite significant progress in Haiti to combat this scourge there is still much to be said affirming "Human trafficking whose victims are mostly women and children in vulnerable situations, is a scourge undermines human dignity and deprives victims of their rights," calling on the authorities to endow the CNLTP with the necessary means to carry out its mission.
