iciHaiti - Social : The former Protector of the Citizen, decorated by France 20/07/2018 09:52:24 Throughout her exemplary career at both national and international levels, Elie has demonstrated her ongoing commitment to strengthening the rule of law and protecting human rights. She is a consultant for various bodies such as the EU, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Elie also served as United Nations Special Adviser on East Timor. Director of the Office for the Protection of the Citizen between 2009 and 2015, Florence Elie notably engaged in the individual treatment of prolonged pre-trial detention and worked for the conditions of incarceration of detainees, particularly young people in conflict with the law. Through her work, the protection of minors in makeshift camps has been improved and many advocacy, particularly in schools, have been conducted throughout the country. In distinguishing this remarkable woman, the French Republic wished to reward her action in favor of the reinforcement of Justice, the defense of Human Rights and the protection of the citizens, thus paying homage to the determination as well as to the courage of a tireless human rights defender.
