On Wednesday President Jovenel Moïse left the country to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to attend the 39th Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) which is being held from July 4th to 6th, 2018.
The Head of State, outgoing President of the Conference and whose term has expired on June 30, will pass the baton to the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness who occupies, since July 1, 2018, the rotating presidency of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of CARICOM for the next 6 months, ie until 31 December 2018.
The 39th Ordinary Meeting of the Conference will be held in a special context for the region, in general and for CARICOM in particular. Extreme vulnerability to climate conditions in the Caribbean region is fueling debate at all levels of regional and subregional organizations.
