iciHaiti - North : Plans for the prevention and reduction of natural risks
This Friday will end a workshop on the plans for prevention and reduction of natural risks (PPRRN) dedicated to local authorities? held from April 22 to 27, by the town halls of Cap-Haïtien and Ouanaminthe with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

About 60 people, local authorities and technical managers are participating in this workshop, which aims at a better understanding and appropriation of the plans by the communities.

Note that Cap-Haïtien and Ouanaminthe are the 6th and 7th communes of the country to have adopted this strategic tool, less than 2 years after the adoption by the Haitian Government of the Methodological Guide on the reduction of natural risks in urban areas in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24025-haiti-dr-nearly-35-000-haitians-deported-or-turned-back-in-haiti-since-the-beginning-of-the-year.html

Remember that Cap-Haïtien and Ouanaminthe are part of Haiti's municipalities more exposed to natural hazards. UNDP, through its "Support to Resilience and Natural Disasters" project, funded by Japan, supports communities by providing tools that contribute to land-use planning, the protection of communities and individuals. through measures to reduce their vulnerability and disaster preparedness.
