iciHaiti - Culture : A first Haitian carnival could take place in Mexicali 08/01/2018 07:46:47
In an interview for the Mexican media "Sintesis", José Joseph of the "Haitian Movement in Mexico" (Movimiento Haitiano en México) based in Mexicali, capital of Baja California with more than 500 active members, announced that this year Haitians want to offer and present their culture to the "cachanillas" (mexicalense, resident of Mexicali) by achieving on February 14th the first edition of the Haitian carnival in Mexicali.
José Joseph said that most of the resources will come from the Haitian community "cachanilla", adding that any external help will be welcome. He also spoke of a march through the streets of Mexicali on May 18th for the commemoration of Haiti's Flag Day.
