iciHaiti - Chile : Possible illegal adoption of Haitian children
According to prosecutor Marcello Sambuceti, the prosecutor's office of Puerto Montt, the capital of Llanquihue province (Central Region of the Lakes of Chile), has opened an investigation into the possible existence of illegal placements or irregular adoptions of Haitian children in families.

The investigation began as a result of a complaint filed by the National Minors Service (SENAME), followed in coordination with the Human Trafficking Brigade and the Puerto Montt Family Court.

"SENAME's complaint is related to the illegal entry of children from Haiti and in this context, we opened an investigation to verify whether we are dealing with child trafficking," said Sambuceti adding "the The first investigative measures are already underway since January 3 [...] it is now necessary to determine the precise circumstances in which these Haitian children entered the country, under what conditions they were given to the people who supported them, rejecting no assumption in the context of a possible illegal adoption or otherwise of illegal detention of migrants," said the Prosecutor who refused to provide more information in order to not to interfere in the outgoing investigation.
