Yesterday Monday as part of the commemoration of the 214th anniversary of the independence of Haiti Neil Latortue, the Mayor of Gonaïves in his intervention evoked the Carnival of Gonaïves 2018.

"[...] also on the cultural level as we promised during our message of January 1 of last year, we realized with the meager means so we had the Carnival of Gonaïves. This was of the opinion of many, a success, success that we intend to perpetuate by making Gonaives a carnival destination. Again this year, we are waiting for you.

We would like to thank once again the local elected officials and especially the members of the local private sector, the Gonaïvians of the diaspora who have spared no effort in the success of the first edition of the Carnival.

President Jovenel Moïse came last year, we know that he will help us this year to achieve this year's Carnival.

We ask to applaud Jovenel Moïse and we tell the President that we invite him this year to the Carnival [...]"
