iciHaiti - Politic : Jovenel Moses meets the 10 Departmental Delegates 15/11/2017 08:36:25
The Head of State first recalled that the fight of the moment is against the corruption and underdevelopment of Haiti. He then returned to various actions already undertaken by the Caravan, including the construction of important road infrastructure and development across the country, the decentralization of state services, through, among other things, the implementation of the first 15 Reception Centers and Delivery of Identity Documents (CRLDI) in various communes of the country, with a view to definitively solve identity problems. Agriculture, environment, public works and social housing are the four pillars of the Caravan. The departmental directorates, supported by the town halls and the CASEC, being, among others, important actors in the framework of Caravan follow-ups, are invited by the President of the Republic to better grasp the new development strategy initiated by this vast machine and to get more involved. The meeting followed a presentation by the Coordinator of the Caravan, Mr. Jacques Thomas, as well as the Jean Robert Jean Noël Engineer of the Coordination, around the main lines and the work schedule of the Caravan. It also allowed the Head of State to inform on various programs including the establishment, in the 572 communal sections of the country, of special suitcases that can quickly produce identification cards to citizens of all these communal sections. Other programs are also announced by President Jovenel Moïse. 600 community restaurants will be realized across the country and each can provide 500 dishes a day, at a rate of 10 gourdes per dish, to solve the hunger problems of the inhabitants while waiting for durable solutions. The process of evaluating teachers in all communes will also be initiated, with a view to solving the problems of training and inefficiency in the education system. The Haitian school will also experience its first compulsory school program focused on reforestation. The capacity of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) will be strengthened. The construction of plants for the on-site disposal of pipes, thereby reducing the exorbitant cost of transporting equipment, the development of a National Drinking Water Supply Plan, and the construction of a sewage treatment system in Port-au-Prince are envisaged. The concreting of all irrigation canals in the Artibonite Valley is also a high priority for the Head of State. For his part the President continues to believe that the Caravan of Change, which will be present throughout the country from February 7, 2018, will accelerate the progress of Haiti through rapid and effective action, and a policy of proximity in favor of the inhabitants, even those in the most remote areas of the country.
