William Charpentier acknowledged that, as part of the deportation process, some cases of abuse had been reported to him, but these were isolated cases that were not common in the Dominican Republic. He believes that Senator Beauplan, with his statements, is not telling the truth by suggesting that it could be a widespread practice. Charpentier considers that these political statements may incite Haitian citizens to provoke social disorders to protest against the alleged abuses and mistreatment that their compatriots would receive and stir up hatred against the Dominicans. For the Coordinator of the Dominican National Bureau of Migration and Refugees, such statements do not contribute to the good relations between the two nations that share the same island.
