iciHaiti - Elections : Declaration of the European Union
As part of elections of 20 November 2016 in Haiti, the spokesman of the European Union declared that "on 20 November was held in Haiti, the elections for the resumption of the first round of the presidential elections and the partial legislative elections for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

Despite a particularly challenging post-hurricane context that generated significant logistical challenges, the government and the CEP, with the support of all political actors, succeeded in creating the security and logistical conditions that allowed the population to express its right to vote in serenity. These choices are the result of a democratic process and must be respected by all stakeholders.

It is now up to the CEP to complete in full transparency the counting which must allow the publication of the results within ten days. The European Union will continue to monitor closely the evolution of the electoral process through the experts it has deployed and by the analyzes provided by national and international observers."
