iciHaiti - Justice : 2nd International Seminar on SGBV
Tuesday the Minustah organized the Second International Seminar (September 13 to 15) on Sexual Gender Violence Based (SGBV) on the theme "The investigation process on SGBV and the International Police Cooperation".

This seminar fully funded by the Kingdom of Norway, takes place in the amphitheater of the National School of Police for the benefit of one hundred participants: executives of the PNH and UNPOL component, Justices of the Peace, the judges of the Courts of First Instance, the judges of the Courts of Appeal and judges of courts of cassation, the UNPOL and all supervisors, investigators from the National Police of Haiti (PNH) working mainly on SGBV investigations in all regions of Haiti.

This multi-dimensional seminar want to be an exchange pot and of participant capacity building, particularly with regard to investigation, of support judicial police, psychological, medical, social and economic of the victims of such violence.

In her welcoming remarks and of official opening, Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the UN declared The main objective of this training is to harmonize the response and improve the professionalism of investigations of the PNH within the framework of investigations on crimes and violence at sexual characters. In addition, training is essential to improve preventive measures to reduce the number of victims and the gender-based crimes and strengthen the action capacity across all departments. It is also important to strengthen coordination in the criminal chain, between the PNH and other judicial actors [...]"

On September 13, the seminar began with the examination of two themes: "Violence against children in Haiti" and "psychological profile of the perpetrator."

The 14 and 15 September, the seminarians will deepen their knowledge of issues relating to : the "cognitive Hearing of witnesses and victims"; "Procedure of standardized operation"; the "Psychology of the interrogation of the suspect and the accused" and "Situation in Haiti regarding the sexual characteristics".

The seminar, the second on SGBV is in line with the first project conducted between 2010 and 2014 that led to the construction of 13 SGBV offices, a classroom for the PNH PNH officers.
