iciHaiti - Education : Canada supports sustainable school feeding program in Haiti

As part of bilateral cooperation, Canada supports the school feeding program to help school-age children who suffer from chronic hunger and food insecurity.

In partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Haiti, the project aims to improve the learning environment for school-age girls and boys. Indeed, the program aims to distribute meals to approximatively 135,000 schoolchildren during two school years (2015-2016, 2016-2017), helping to increase the attendance rate at primary level and improve the learning abilities of children.

This project, which covers almost the entire country and also aims to strengthen agricultural production because , as advocated by the National Policy and Strategy School Feeding of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training inclusion locally produced food is of great importance for the sustainable economic growth of the country.
