230 Haitian migrants intercepted at sea
On Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard informed to have intercepted more than 230 Haitian migrants at sea and reconducted them in Cap-Haitien. Authorities said that Tuesday, a Coast Guard helicopter had spotted 171 migrants aboard a 40-feet sailing boat near Great Inagua (Bahamas). The same day, in a separate interception 68 other Haitians were found aboard a sailboat in the North of Haiti. Captain Mark Fedor says that the two boats were "grossly overloaded and unable to get to their destination safely." Once on board Coast Guard cutter, all migrants received food, water and basic medical care.

20% increase in visitors in Haiti
During the first quarter of this year, Haiti has experienced a 20.2% increase in the number of visitors (99.637 visitors in total). On Wednesday, a group of farmers in the area of Gonaives in northern Haiti has made a donation to help their Filipino counterparts "We were very sad to hear that many farmers in the Philippines are suffering from Typhoon Haiyan, like we did in Haiti after Hurricane Sandy last year," said Eliette Pierre, a local farm leader and member of the Smallholder Farmers Alliance. "We want to tell all of you that the farmers here are praying for you and we are also sending a donation to help you recover from the storm damage." Ms. Pierre, accompanied by three other local farm leaders, presented a check for US$150 that will be forwarded to the Philippines through the Kapuso Foundation.

Delegation of the DINEPA in neighboring republic
On Thursday, a delegation of the National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) led by Lionel Duvalsaint, Director of the Dinepa, visited the Dominican Republic in the context of discussions with his counterpart of Dominican Republic, CAASD, to enhance the service offered by the Dinepa in Haiti. The delegation was welcomed by the Director of CAASD, whichexpressed to the Haitian delegation his full support and assured his full cooperation.
