64 inmates pardoned
Sunday, on the occasion of the day of prisoners, the government pardoned 64 prisoners including 27 women. Me Francisco René, the Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince, ndicated that this decision was made in the context of the struggle of the Government against prolonged pretrial detention in Haiti and said that an ad hoc committee for monitoring and evaluation, was established for this purpose by the Ministry of justice, composed of representatives of the Ministry, prison authorities and the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince.

Uruguay will withdraw its troops of the Minustah
On the occasion of the Council of Ministers, the Uruguayan President José Mujica has announced its decision to withdraw its troops from the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and given orders in tis sense. Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro, the Minister of Defence of the country said that Uruguay has begun to implement a phase-out plan.
