Tuesday, the Haiti National Police arrested Mr. Philippe Victor Chatelain, General of the travel agency Chatelain Cargo Services, as part of the investigation into the disappearance of three containers at the port customs. 207th anniversary of the death of Emperor Dessalines

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago reminds the entire Haitian Community that Thursday, October 17, 2013 brings the 207th anniversary of the death of Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines. Sunday 20 October, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consular Mission invite the faithful of all religious sensibilities, to a Mass in memory of Jean-Jacques Dessalines. After the ceremony, which will take place at 5:30 pm at Our Lady of Peace located at 7801 South Jeffrey, Chicago Church, a reception will be held in the basement of the Church.

Restitution of fishing equipment

Monday, Emmanor Deronnette, Deputy Commissioner of the Borough of Bellance (Southeast of Haiti) and Odalis Zabara, Civil Governor of Pedernales (Dominican Republic), met in Anse-a-Pitre, at the Haitiano-Dominican border, on the necessity to restore to Haitian fishermen a lot of fishing gear confiscated by the Dominican authorities in September. The Dominican Governor promised to give back to our fellow fishermen, their material in order to avoid tensions on the border of the two country.

Tuesday at the Plaza Hotel, the engineers of the construction firm GLF, presented the project of design and implementation of construction works of North Wharf, of public facilities. The audience was composed of executives of National Port Authority (APN) and other stakeholders in the port sector.
