Haiti - News : Some news here and there... 02/10/2012 13:53:37 The Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in Orlando informs the Haitian community of its Jurisdiction and that of the Floride that Mr. Avenel Pierre Vilsaint, Press Secretary for the mission, was dismissed from his duties at the Consulate due to an unfortunate statement he made on Sunday September 22,2012 on the air of Radio Classique Inter. Mr. Vilsaint's participation in the Radio program "PROCHE" was not authorized and his opinion does not reflect at any time the opinion of the Consulate, its members and that of the Haitian Government. Back to School, thank you UNICEF This school year, UNICEF is launching a vast campaign to distribute school kits for students, teachers and school principals. Particular attention has been given to schools in the most vulnerable and difficult to access areas. The campaign targets 750,000 primary school children (37.5% of all primary school pupils), 21,000 teachers (31% of teachers in primary school) and 3,500 schools (25% of all schools). "UNICEF has mobilized a large amount of its resources to reach the greatest possible number of students across the country, including in remote areas. This falls under the principle of equity, which is at the heart of our agenda", said Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Representative in Haiti.
