Haiti - News : Some news here and there... 03/09/2012 13:43:08 The Directorate of the National Library of Haiti (BNH) announced that it had concluded an agreement with the U.S. Embassy in order to acquire scanning equipment, ,as part of the project "Digital Library of Caribbean". Thus equipped, the BNH, will be able to offer its digitization services to other institutions of the country such as the Library of the Brothers of St. Louis ; the National Archives of Haiti, the Library of the Brothers of the Holy Spirit and the Ministry of Tourism. Third payment to private schools The Ministry of National Education, informs the directors of schools involved in the implementation of the Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory, that the payment of the third tranche of funds to private schools, is currently underway or are already available on the accounts of the schools involved, in the West and Artibonite. For other departments, transfers will be made to the accounts of schools before Friday, September 7, 2012. DINEPA new offices in Petit Goâve As part of its Quick Impact Projects, the regional office of the Minustah in Léogâne funded to the tune of 100,000 U.S. dollars, the reconstruction of the office of the Technical Center and Operation of the National Directorate of Water Supply and sanitation of Petit-Goâve. These work have consisted to the reconstruction of the building and include the construction of a storage room, of archive rooms, offices for the direction, reception rooms, of meeting and of technical, of an administrative office and two toilets. The fence of the building has also been strengthened to ensure the safety of the premises. Donation of 2,200 tonnes of rice from the Republic of China The Republic of China (Taiwan) donated to Haiti, 2,200 tons of rice in favor of students and families in need. The tri partite agreement was signed between Vanneur Pierre, the Minister of Education, Kareen Dolce, Director of "Food for the Poor" (FFP), and the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Liu Bang-Zyh. The FFP and the National School Feeding Programme, will ensure the reception, storage and distribution of these 2.200 tons of rice. By doing so, the Government of Taiwan hopes to contribute to the struggle, conducted by the Haitian government, against hunger and malnutrition. HL/ HaitiLibre
