Tolbert Alexis against a free trade treaty
The Deputy Tolbert Alexis is against a free trade treaty between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He fears that such an agreement undermine the building efforts of national production and suggests that the Haitian Government, before any commitment, that the country should at least reach the level of food self-sufficiency. He expressed concern that such a treaty transforms virtually Haiti, in Dominican province.

Reopening of the library of the FaScH
The Library of the Faculty of Humanities (FaSch) reopened last week after two years of closure. Anne Marie Cyrius, Responsible for the library declared "With this new structure and with the training we received, both here and in France and Belgium, we are able to offer better service to students." For his part, Pierre Hancy, the Coordinator of the FaSch, announced further approaches to install air conditioning, the establishment of a large library of social science, the reuse of the former administration building and the strengthening of computer lab.

Towards a better education system in Haiti
The Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta, through its Consul General Mr. Gandy Thomas, its responsible to the investment, Mr. Moise Garçon and hits Public Relations Officer Mr. Reginald Michel, recently met with the President of the Newcom International, Jaime Dickinson, its Manager and Sales Director Dora Mejia, the President of the Lista (Latinos in information sciences and technology Association) José Marquez León, Ninette M. Aquino and Carmen L. Coya of Effective Media Group on the possibility of implementing a distance education program in Haiti. According to Mr. Dickinson, this program has already produced good results in Latin American countries where it is used, Colombia, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic... Mr. Thomas thanked his friends of Haiti for their proposal, and promises to bridge the gap with the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs on the feasibility of such a project.
