In terms of election, the neighboring Republic dominates Haiti...
The delegation of 5 parliamentarians who had traveled to the Dominican Republic to observe the conduct of the Presidential election of this country this week presented a summary of his observations. The Deputy Poly Faustin, member of the delegation, mentioned having found, how the Dominican Republicdominated Haiti in erms of electoral organization and hoped that Haiti would reach one day at this level.

Courtesy visit of U.S. Ambassador

Jon E. Piechowski Director of "Public Affairs" also attended the courtesy meeting. The U.S. Ambassador reiterated the commitment of the United States to provide its support to the reform initiatives announced by the government. The Minister of Communication has informed the U.S. ambassador of his desire to promote freedom of the press, through relevant information on the many achievements of the Government, the activities of the great body of the state, of civil society organizations and efforts of friendly countries whose the United States in favor of the national reconstruction.

The country is not ready for the next elections
For Harry Marsan, the Spokesman of the Organization of People in Struggle (OPL), no election can be organized seriously by the end of the year as envisaged by the Prime Minister, recalling that the OPL wanted the formation of a last Provisional Electoral Council of consensus, responsible for organizing these upcoming elections. For his part, Edouard Paultre Responsible of the Council of Haitian Non-State Actors (CONHANE), also feels that the technical conditions for holding elections in the country at the end of the year does not yet exist.
