May 5, 2012 was proclaimed "Sophia Martelly Day" by Ms. Bower, Mayor of the City of Miami Beach, at the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of "Women in Production", at Beach Convention Center. This prestigious award is honoring the many contributions of the First Lady of Haiti, Sophia Martelly "The First Lady of the Republic of Haiti has spent most of his life to take care of the elderly and other social causes in Haiti," declared the Mayor of the City of Miami Beach.
