Haiti - News : Some news here and there... 12/02/2012 14:04:53 After a first postponement, the election of the State University of Haiti finally took place. The results was published on February 10. The Professor Jean Henri Vernet was re-elected as Rector of State University of Haiti [UEH] with 82.3% of the vote. Fritz Deshommes was re-elected unanimously as Vice-President to the Research. Ronald Jean Jacques was re-elected as Vice-President Academic with 61% of the vote. Following his election, the Rector Jean Henri Vernet declared, ""Our primary concern is the budget of the University, so we have a decent budget, our second concern is to relocate the university normal conditions, the third priority is to decentralize the university and one of the things that is very important for us is the reform." Student representatives say they do not recognize the election results which according to them, had no a quorum at the time of vote. Participation of the Ministry of Tourism to the Carnival of Students of Cap The Regional Bureau North of the Ministry of Tourism, will participate in accordance with the city of Cap-Haitien, to the Carnival of Students to be held under the theme "Education and Tourism, a good marriage for the development", on February 17. According to a member of the Regional Bureau, the Cap Haitien thinking make of the department a tourism product and welcome Haitians throughout the country during the carnival period. Haiti recognizes Kosovo's independence Haiti is the 87th country to recognize Kosovo's independence, announced on Saturday the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Haitian foreign minister, Laurent Lamothe announced the decision after having met his counterpart of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, in Port-au-Prince. Recall that the Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia February 17, 2008. It invites festival-goers to be careful to avoid all forms of accidents and abuses. To drivers and users of public roads, the Ministry of the Interior recommends caution. It recalls the need to turn off the engines, not smoking and not to use mobile phones at petrol stations.
