iciHaiti - Obituary : Passing of feminist activist Guerda Bien-Aimé
Pédrica Saint Jean, Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights, mourns the death on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Saint-Marc of a tireless feminist activist, Guerda Bien-Aimé (66 years old), following complications from an illness she courageously endured.

This sad news affects the Ministry for the Status of Women, which had the honor of collaborating with her through the Federation of Women of Bas-Artibonite (FEFBA), an organization she founded, dedicated to caring for women and children who were victims of sexual violence.

Through her commitment, Guerda Bien-Aimé, a teacher and lawyer, not only contributed to advancing women's rights, but also raised awareness and opened doors to a better future for Haitian women.

The Ministry remembers her exceptional work, her determination, and her humanity. Over the years, Guerda Bien-Aimé has embodied strength, perseverance, and a passion for promoting and defending women's rights. Her programs to empower women, combat gender-based violence, and promote women's political participation have illuminated numerous paths toward social justice and the emancipation of Haitian women. Her courageous voice and unwavering commitment have touched many lives and inspired positive change in Haitian society. All of this will remain forever in our collective memory.

During this time of mourning, Minister Saint Jean extends her sincere condolences to her family, loved ones, and women's rights organizations experiencing this difficult time.

The Minister reiterates that Guerda Bien-Aimé's death will not mark the end of her struggle, but rather a further step in the collective commitment to making the vision she held a tangible reality.

We are all heirs to her work. It is together and in her memory that we will advance the cause of women in Haiti. May her soul rest in peace and may the Great Almighty God welcome her home!
