Jonas Jean, Haitian State Scholar, brilliantly completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine Number One in Santiago de Cuba, distinguishing himself among 299 new graduates. Among them, 10 Haitians, including Jonas, flew the flag for Haiti.

During the ceremony, Jonas was honored with several prestigious distinctions :

- University Faculty Prize;
- Most Complete Student of the University Prize, the highest possible distinction;
- Scientific Merit Prize, the university pointed out to Mrs. Vichy De La Fayette Thibeaud, Chargée d’Affaires a.i of the Embassy of Haiti in Cuba, present at the event that in 63 years of existence, Dr. Jonas Jean is the first to receive this Prize.

Born in Cité Soleil, raised in Pélé Simon, Jonas is proof that determination and education can transcend all barriers.

Today, he dreams of specializing in neurosurgery or public health and has already received a Cuban scholarship to continue his studies and realize his ambitions.
