iciHaiti - Security : Construction of the border wall with Haiti continues
The first phase of the project for the Construction of a smart perimeter fence along the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti continues https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43951-haiti-securite-la-premiere-phase-du-mur-bordalier-dominicain-achevee-a-84.html

According to the Dominican Ministry of Defense, this project will contribute to strengthening the security system established at the land border, in order to counter risks and threats to national security.

The smart perimeter fence system developed on the Dominican-Haitian border aims to integrate: physical fences, lighting system, optical fiber, command and control centers, motion sensors, video surveillance cameras, radars, communication and surveillance towers, drones, among other technological and infrastructure solutions along the border.

Regarding the protection of the land border, 148,404 surveillance and security patrols were carried out in 2024, along the entire land border under the responsibility of the Dominican National Army. As part of the patrols, 343 flight hours were also carried out for aerial surveillance, in the Dominican border area.

3D simulation of the future border fence:

It should be remembered that the physical fence of 160 km in total will consist of a reinforced concrete wall and a metal structure 3.90 meters high which will be topped by an accordion of sharp-bladed metal barbed wire. It will have 170 surveillance towers and checkpoints, in addition to some 71 controlled access gates. The fence will be double in the most critical areas.

The call for tenders for the 2nd phase (110 km in 9 sections) has already been launched.
