iciHaiti - UEH Executive Council : Failure of the electoral process due to lack of quorum
The Office of the Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH) expresses its deep regrets following the failure of the electoral process for the renewal of the Executive Council due to lack of quorum. The Office recalls that Rector Fritz Deshommes is not a candidate for re-election by personal decision and has already taken all the measures to ensure a smooth transfer.

The Office of the Rector takes this opportunity to shed light on certain aspects of the functioning of the UEH, in particular the Electoral Charter of the UEH.

The lack of quorum observed in the last elections for the Executive Council unfortunately means that there are not enough voters, that is to say, legitimate members of the University Council. Several deaneries have failed to trigger or encourage in time the electoral processes that concern them directly or indirectly. It is important to note that, even if the regulations require all members to be present at all its meetings, they only require a quorum of 2/3, or 24 members for the holding of elections for the Executive Council. Better still, in the event of failure to reach the quorum of 2/3 in a first convocation, the regulations reduce this quorum to 60%, or 21 members for a second convocation to be held every eight days.

The Office of the Rector ardently hopes that in-depth reflections can be carried out on the causes of the failure of the electoral process, that lessons are learned, and that the electoral file be relaunched to lead to the appointment of a new Executive Council in strict compliance with the transitional provisions and the electoral charter and that our Alma Mater emerges from it grown and matured.
