In addition to being a media professional, Gérin Alexandre was an enlightened man with an awakened conscience, a craftsman of the word who knew how, through his pen and his microphone, to fuel aspirations and hopes within our society. His unwavering commitment to defending the truth even in the most difficult contexts, had contributed to enriching public exchanges and interactions and to advancing democracy in Haiti. His integrity and his ability to enlighten minds have marked our times. With exemplary intellectual rigor and impeccable professional ethics, he was able, through his reports and analyses, to enlighten consciences and contribute to the public debate with rare insight. His courage in the face of challenges and his ability to give voice to those who are rarely heard will remain forever engraved in the collective memory of Haitian journalism. In these moments of mourning, the Ministry for the Status of Women presents its sincere condolences to his grieving family, his loved ones, the valiant team of Radio Télé Caraïbes, as well as to the corporation of journalists deeply affected by this loss. May his legacy serve as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for present and future generations, by defending the values he so brilliantly embodied. May his memory constantly remind us of the importance of the profession of journalism in building the new Haitian society and in strengthening our democracy. IH/ iciHaiti
