iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : DINEPA will light up water points
The National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), together with the Regional Office of Drinking Water and Sanitation (OREPA-North) and the Technical Operations Center (CTE) of the city of Cap-Haïtien, launched the pilot program "Ak DINEPA Katye Pam Klere" (KPK). This program, which is in its first phase, consists of the specific lighting of water infrastructures across the 10 geographical departments, grouped in the 4 OREPA (West, North, South and Center)

This program offers multiple benefits to the population. While water points, hydraulic infrastructures will be lit, therefore better protected, local residents, particularly schoolchildren, will benefit from it for healthy nighttime activities (leisure, studies, small businesses, etc...) And the observation is already made in the city of Cap-Haitien, nightlife is starting to be less monotonous where the streetlights are placed.

This is a new approach of the institution that aims to increase its capacity to provide better services to the population.

Let's recall that the city of Cap-Haitien, with its many working-class neighborhoods, has been the scene for about four years of a mega-hydraulic project : the Great North Project, which is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). However, it should be noted that in addition to the financial support of the IDB and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), there is the good collaboration of companies under contract with DINEPA in the Region for the reconstruction of the hydraulic network and the Septic Sludge Treatment Plant, which facilitates the materialization of the KPK Program.

With this new initiative of DINEPA, the water sites affected by the KPK program are already better valued and protected. An increased rapprochement between DINEPA and the population is beginning to be felt. All this will result in a clear increase in the number of subscribers to the institution.
