iciHaiti - Airport security : 2nd phase of demolition underway

The 2nd Phase of the demolition work on buildings located less than 50 meters away, targeting in particular multi-storey buildings overlooking the runway of Toussaint Louverture International Airport, has been underway since Saturday, October 26, 2024.
After the demolition of nearly 200 houses and small houses in Phase 1, nearly 300 other houses and various buildings will be demolished during this 2nd phase https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43058-haiti-politic-monitoring-of-ongoing-works-and-expropriations-for-demolition-around-the-airport.html . Some buildings will be spared and transformed into advanced bases for the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H)
The Public Treasury has mobilized more than a billion Gourdes to compensate the expropriated owners and the works.
In order to be at the level of international airport security standards, a 3rd Phase is planned.
