iciHaiti - Politic : A high-level Haitian delegation discusses the situation in Haiti
Monday, October 28, 2024, as part of the official participation of a high-level Haitian delegation in the Venice Commission at the headquarters of the Organization of the American States (OEA) (October 28 to 30, 2024), Frinese Joseph Presidential Advisor Transition (CPT), who directs this delegation, met Luiz Almagro, secretary general of the OEA to discuss the situation in Haiti.

Discussions will focus on the security, financing and the legislative framework of the next elections in Haiti, as well as on political and electoral rights, governance and international cooperation. The three-day program also includes expert sessions with electoral specialists and regional authorities covering subjects such as effective mechanisms to achieve a peaceful electoral process, strategies to organize an election in conflict zones and vote Abroad, among others.

Composition of the members of the Haitian delegation :

Enex Jean-Charles, President of the national conference steering committee;
Ms. Kerlande Mibel, representative of the diaspora in the national conference steering committee;
Patrick Saint-Hilaire, President of the provisional electoral council (CEP);
Max Délices, Executive Director of CEP;
Jacques Desrosiers, Director General of CEP;
Reynold Guerrier, Director General of the National Identification Office (ONI).

These meetings and the participation of the Haitian delegation were made possible thanks to the generous contributions from the governments of Canada, France and the United States.

The European Commission for Democracy by Law, also called Venice Commission, is an advisory body of the Council of Europe made up of independent experts in constitutional law. It was created in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, at a period when constitutional aid was necessary for the states of central and eastern Europe.
