iciHaiti - Dom. Rep. : 27,353 Haitians deported and repatriated since October 3rd
According to data from the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), 27,352 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation were expelled or repatriated to Haiti as part of the operation that began on October 3rd, 2024, which aims to repatriate up to 10,000 irregular migrants per week.

Of this number, 25,392 correspond to expulsions following migratory controls throughout the Dominican territory and 1,960 were repatriated (turned back) at the border. In addition, during this period, 8,721 Haitians voluntarily returned to Haiti.

When arrested migrants arrive at the Haina holiday reception center (detention center), the first thing that is done is to take their biometric fingerprints and register their name, information that is sent to the DGM system.

With their names, migration agents check if the detained person has an open file, and thus determine if it is pending approval or under evaluation. Depending on this status, the person can be released if they are in the process of regularizing their documents to reside in the country or they can be approved or not in this process.

There are other cases in which migrants claim to have a card, but it is expired or duplicated (identity theft detected by comparing fingerprints).
