iciHaiti - Justice : 3 Bahamians arrested for trafficking Haitian migrants
Following intelligence reports of suspicious activity involving a vehicle discreetly transporting individuals to a vessel, officers from Operation Ceasefir arrested three Bahamian nationals, a 48-year-old woman and two men, aged 29 and 50, suspected of being involved in human smuggling.

Upon inspection of the vessel, law enforcement discovered 45 Haitian nationals (32 men and 13 women) on board, all in an irregular migration situation who were transferred to the Bahamas Department of Immigration for further identification and investigation.

Bahamian authorities note that Haitian migrants constitute the largest foreign community in the Bahamas. Haitians often come to the archipelago in search of work and many of them work in low or unskilled jobs. However, some Haitians use the Bahamas as a means to immigrate to other countries, mainly the United States...
