Vernet Joseph, the Minister of Agriculture led a delegation composed of executives from the Ministry who toured nearly ten solar pumps in the Gonaïves plain on Saturday, September 21, as a prelude to the launch of the fall and winter campaigns to ensure their operational status.

It should be recalled that the installation of 29 of the 32 available pumps was financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as part of the technological innovation project in agriculture and agroforestry (PITAG).

The planters took the opportunity to express their satisfaction with these solar pumps which have promoted the development of more than 2,000 ha in the Gonaives Plain, which has been subject to urbanization due to the malfunction of electric irrigation pumps for about twenty years.
