Leslie Voltaire, member of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) held an emergency meeting with key players in the telecommunications sector to address the internet outage affecting Digicel services. The participants (Digicel, Natcom, CONATEL & MTPTC) explored different solutions to restore as quickly as possible the connections affected since Saturday, September 14, by a failure in the equipment that connects an international submarine cable with Digicel.

All the actors present stressed the importance of stable internet access for the population…

Following this meeting, the authorities dispatched police officers and a justice of the peace accompanied by Digicel technicians to intervene on the site in order to resolve the outage affecting communication in several areas of the country.

According to what is circulating unofficially, the Government is considering the possibility of declaring the area of ​​the site where Digicel's equipment is located, a public utility zone.
