iciHaiti - Ouanaminthe : Haitians guarantee the safety of Dominicans
Haitians guarantee the safety of Dominicans at the new community market in Ouanaminthe, which has been open for 4 weeks and is funded by the European Union https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36158-haiti-economy-disagreement-with-the-dr-on-the-functioning-of-the-binational-market-of-ouanaminthe.html

Joanus Dufenede, the Director of the market, asked Dominican traders to report to the administration so that they could secure a space and thus sell their goods on Haitian territory "[...] we are ready to receive all Dominicans who come to sell in the Haitian part, just as we trade with Dominicans in the Dominican part."

Joanus Dufenede, said that he guarantees the safety not only of Dominicans, but also of Haitians who frequent the new place. "The security guarantee is for everyone and we have security cameras throughout the space, we have police officers, we have security from the city hall, we have agents who are there for security."

Dufenede said that the market facilities have a surveillance center where a communication system works to talk to all the staff.

Clarifying "The new Ouanaminthe market has a system for 48 surveillance cameras but at the moment there are only 24 installed, while it is expected that in the coming days that the camera installations will continue."

Santiago Riveron, the mayor of the municipality of Dajabón, said that he cannot guarantee the safety of Dominicans in Haiti, if they decide to cross the border to the neighboring country to do business with Haitians.
