iciHaiti - MSF : An ambulance stopped by the PNH causes the death of a patient
In a note, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reports that a Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) ambulance carrying a critically ill patient was stopped by the Haitian National Police (PNH) in Port-au-Prince and detained, preventing the MSF team from providing the necessary care.

The patient suffered from an open fracture and was in urgent need of hospital care. Held for over an hour, the patient eventually died before reaching a hospital.

"We denounce this serious obstruction of our medical mission," said Sophie Mealier, MSF Head of Mission. "As an organization committed to providing free healthcare to the Haitian population without discrimination and in accordance with the principles of medical ethics, MSF calls on all armed actors in Haiti to respect our medical teams and guarantee patients rapid and safe access to care."

"Unjustified blockages to humanitarian movements put lives at risk and are unacceptable."
